Jessica's newest 'in the works' project: Little Blue Worm. It's being made out of Translucent Color Sculpey Polymer Clay. Started out as all her projects do, taking a bit of tin foil and bunching it up, wrapping masking tape around it so that if there is a mistake maken, she can easily take the clay off without it sticking to the tin foil and going to waste. After all that, she used a bunch of clay around it, getting the basic form of the worm, using a picture for reference. Instead of just building off what clay she put on, she baked the basic form of the worm so she had a nice firm 'frame' to work with. Now she's in the process of adding bits of clay to her frame - Starting with the head and working her way down to the body. The head/face is the most detailed part of her project so it's easier to get it done first that way she won't ruin the rest of it by holding the body to work the face on. Right now the most recent part is working in the eyes, between the eyes & the forehead. She started this project at around 11am Sat. March 7th, 2015. Took a break until 2am Sun. March 8th, 2015 and got about a good 5 more hours of work in. It's a slow project, as this isn't her typical Polymer Clay piece - This requires adding clay onto the frame, taking tools to carve, mold and smooth the clay - Adding more clay and rinse and repeat over and over until it's eventually finished! Make sure to check back to see where she's at! Eventually this little worm will be offered on Crafted DreamScapes SHOP page, under a new category "Sculptures". Price is yet to be determined, but if you might be interested, please feel free to contact us as we do consider RSVPs on certain pieces! **If you are unfamiliar with the movie "Labyrinth", click the Little Blue Worm photo (not one of my photos, the completed looking one!). A new window will open, you'll be taken to the Wiki Article on the film. |
